Innovation Course DigiTrans 4.0

The Innovation Course on “Digital Transformation in Product Development and Production”
(DigiTrans 4.0) is a targeted qualification measure under the FFG funding program “Research Competencies for the Economy”. The goal is to train employees and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow’s industry. At the same time, knowledge transfer between the partner companies of various industries, participants and the Vienna University of Technology is initiated. This is guaranteed by the interdisciplinary and modular structure of the course. The different teaching units include theoretical as well as practical parts, which are held in the Pilotfabrik Industrie 4.0 of the Vienna University of Technology.

Integrated Safety & Security Concept for the MRK

The Human-Robot-Collaboration (MRK) offers the possibility to combine the strengths of humans with the strengths of the robot in a common production system. Modern power and power reduced robots, due to their inherent safety features, are theoretically able to work with people without guards. Practically, however, the plant operator continues to take numerous measures to prevent injury risks. Especially in a highly networked factory environment, the dimension of information and data security has to be taken into account – and to prevent external attacks and corrupt commands from undermining the measures taken for functional security.

Objective of the project:

  • Implementation of exemplary HRC scenarios and investigation of security-related aspects and deficits, both in terms of functional and information-related security
  • Development of a holistic package of measures and designs to ensure human safety in the MRC as an aid to companies in the design and implementation of HRC applications
  • Publication of a white paper series on the dissemination of the project results
